What a father would do for his daughter

Warning: Spoiler ahead

Tonight's episode of Heroes is amazing. Starting from the very begining when the Fragile sticker was put on the moving boxes, symbolizing how fragile this family's life has become, I already knew it was going to be a good show. This episode was filled with symbolism. When HRG said "you have no idea what a father would do for his daughter." Was he referring to himself? Or Bob? Or more probably, both? And when Sandra Bennet talked about her daughter's choice of boyfriend, it was really talking about a father who can fly as well as a father who would do anything to protect her. And when Kaito called out for Hiro at the funeral, was it just for the younger Hiro? Or was it a father's call for his child to take his place on this earth?

I was initially bothered by Hiro's untimely return. He could have returned anytime he had wanted, even before his father's death. Time travel in a story is problematic because it means the character can always go back and fix things. So tonight just goes to show how skillful these writers are when they solve the problem of Kaito's death. It was convincing and not easy, quite amazing.

I had never believed HRG would be really shot. So I thought the ending was a real surprise. But then just when you are stunned by his death, there comes another twist. that was so cool too.

The preview showed Hiro pressing his katana against Peter's throat. Is Hiro trying to avenge his father's death while Peter tries to protect Adam? Two heroes with great powers, each with his own agenda, this is exactly what makes the show so good, there is no black and white, clear cut right or wrong, Parkman would face off Suresh at Kirby plaza for Molly, Suresh would shoot HRG for Elle, all characters caught up in this complex web of life paths called destiny. I am so pumped up and excited and looking forward to the next episode.

The temporarily out of service elevator at Apple

The question is, how often does an elevator break before someone says "Oh, let's replace the print out/hand written note with an acrylic sign with a nice little logo"?

A black acrylic sign at an Apple store reads "Our elevator is temporarily out of service. Please use the stairs or let us know if you need other assistance"

Temporarily out of service? Why am I not surprised this shows up at an Apple store?

Postcards from New York II

I have taken stills, and they look, well, still. What's missing is human emotion. I forced my brother and my sister-in-law to pose for me. It was tough for them but it paid off. I think I take better pictures when there are people in them.

I made them do the same thing at every landmark...

They were so embarrassed and couldn't stop giggling, otherwise under the US flag with sun light beaming through the windows, this Central Station shot could have been epic - lovers reunite after the war, all those crap, you know.

The winner goes to Central Park romance. You can't see their faces but the love is definitely in the air.

Thank you you two for playing along.

Postcards from New York I

Armed with a slightly better than point-and-shoot camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2, but that's another blog) and a 2Gb flash card, I thought I played photographer a bit. I mean, it's New York city. Random snapshooting was supposed to yield a few good pieces, right? Well, it's really not that simple. You also need a tripod, be at the right place at the right time, and lots of patience. We averaged 1Gb a day (with some videos) but still there's only this few I can pick out. So here we go, your comments are welcomed.

First off I thought I lump together a NY lamp post, the Fifth Ave sign and the Empire State building, but the 16:9 aspect ratio (which I really hate to use with pictures, but, that would be another story) makes it look awkward.

With skyscapers in mind, I went for the Chrysler building. I thought its broken up reflection would make a me-and-my-evil-twin kind of deal, but that didn't really work out the way I wanted.

So I paired it up with a US flag. There's something with the red white and blue in New York after 9/11. But I couldn't get the two to move close enough...

There were plenty of flag poles in the streets, and I experiemented with alot of them. Well, this one's all wrinkle up no matter how long I waited, just like my laundry.

This one's nice and straight up but the background is so uninspiring.

I got a very patriotic New York Stock Exchange, but the entrance was under construstion (and the wide aspect ration cut off the top!)

Central Station would be the most acceptable one I'd say.

It's not like I know photography but i just feel that the pictures lack something. And I think I know what...
